BLACK ANGEL / BLACK SQUAW "Bessie Coleman" & "Night Hawk" Part 1

Here's an introduction to this amazing aviatrix (based on a real-life aviation pioneer) who, despite having four graphic novels currently in print, is all-but-unknown to American audiences!
To Be Continued...
Next Week

Written by Yann Balac'h and illustrated by Alain Henriet, the initial graphic novel, published in 2020 in France by Dupuis, received both critical acclaim and excellent sales, resulting in a new volume in the series each year since, with the fourth (and final) chapter now available!
Though published simultaneously in print and electronic editions throughout Europe, the first two volumes are available in English only as Kindle e-books.
You'll note the series is re-titled for the English-language version, since the editors believed "Black Squaw" would be too confusing to Americans, who they believed would think it was an Old West series!
Europeans, apparently, have no problem understanding it referred to Bessie Coleman's Native American/African American heritage in a series involving an aviatrix during the Roaring '20s!
The storyline is serialized, with each volume leading directly into the next.

Coming Soon...BLACK ANGEL aka BLACK SQUAW

It is the early 1920s.
The Volstead Act has recently prohibited the sale and consumption of alcohol, which means that an active black market has sprung up—a market controlled by legendary gangsters such as Al Capone.
Supplies must be secretly shipped from France to its outpost in Saint-Pierre, Newfoundland.
This dangerous and illegal trade involves flying primitive sea planes piloted by fearless aviators such as Bessie the “Black Angel
” aka Black Squaw”, whose Native American/African American heritage also makes her the target of the recently-revived and flourishing Ku Klux Klan.
Based on the history-making African-American/Native-American aviatrix, Bessie Coleman, she flies in the face of injustice, prejudice, and discrimination!
